The you of today is shaped by your experiences of yesterday. Good or bad your experiences have made you who you are today. Did you know...
that the subconscious mind has recorded all the feelings, emotions and events that have happened to you since you were born? Pretty amazing – even if you don’t remember, your subconscious does and causes all of your reactive behavior.
If you sought to please mommy and daddy growing up (and who didn’t, really?) the need for external approval will rob you of peace of mind.
If you try too hard to be perfect or expect others to be perfect you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
Here are three questions to consider and contemplate in regards to your behavior patterns:
1) Do you try to control the way others act? If you do you are probably frequently disappointed because most people won’t play into your demands.
2) Do you try to be someone you’re not? Do you spend your time trying to satisfy the needs of others rather than listening to your own inner voice?
3) Do you look to others for validation and approval? Do you please to be liked instead of doing what is true to your inner self? If you let others give you your value you’re giving your power away.
Your answers will form the framework of your work ahead. It's time to start dealing with those buried feelings and let go of all unhelpful habits. The time to put the past behind you is NOW. Letting go of the old you is your first step towards inner peace.
