Do you need a friend to listen to your pain, to tell you the truth, to hear you without judgment; to love and empower you at all times, to give you new perspective?
The best friend you will ever have is your...
..journal – always open to your every thought and feeling; by your side for every “Aha” defining moment.
When I was going thru my divorce I had more revelations with my "
private pages” than my therapist and girlfriends.
Journaling is one of the most cathartic actions you can take when you are going through an emotional crisis. Just find a quiet, comfortable space, light a candle for clarity, put on some soft tunes and start writing.
Stream of consciousness works well for many – letting whatever comes into your mind flow through your hands. Allow yourself to finish before going back and reading your thoughts.
I like to write a little and then think a little and then write some more. It helps me put the pieces together and connect the dots. It's a fantastic way to get to know yourself.
Meditating before penning is very powerful and can relax your mind enough to bring up deep-seated issues. Sit for 10-20 minutes in a very quiet environment and set this intention: whatever is important for me to see and understand at this moment please come into my conscious mind now.
The biggest bonus of journaling is the healing of emotion. For example when you start writing you may feel sad and pained but when you’re done you’ll end up feeling light and happy having gotten to the root of those feelings.
Treat yourself to this positive personal practice and you’ll see yourself rise from the pages an empowered new woman.
